Another February Crown

Crowns

A group of Kingfishers is called a crown. Most crowns are formed in February with the beginning of their breeding season.

Our first meetings started in February on the weekends at Sutton. Hackney Marshes and Walthamstow Wetlands. We were in sync with the Kingfisher’s breeding season. In the first meeting we were six participants and we shared some time introducing ourselves and sharing our various  interests on birdwatching. I also explained to the participants about my project and my masters at UCL. Most of the participants were amateur birders and some of them were first timers and they were all happy to contribute to my study with some brief interviews after our bird walks.
